King Salmon and Sockeye

Leading the charge is the formidable Chinook (King) Salmon, in mid-June. Many fly fishers relish the challenge of hooking a King Salmon with a weighted streamer fly. In mid July, the Sockeye (Red) Salmon storm the river. By early August, anglers can find themselves standing knee-deep in the river, surrounded by the swift and brilliant fighters.

Arctic Grayling

During the spring and early summer, they migrate from their habitats in deeper waters to shallow streams and rivers to spawn. August and September see the river teeming with Arctic Grayling, averaging 14 to 18 inches, eager to strike at any fly or lure presented to them.

Rainbow Trout

In September, larger Rainbow Trout, ranging from 22 to 26 inches, dominate the waters, fueled by their summer feeding frenzy and gearing up for the long winter ahead. These wild, native trout are renowned for their brilliant crimson markings and distinctive black spots. As King Salmon begin their spawning rituals in late July, the Tal becomes a haven for Rainbow Trout enthusiasts.
